Your mind is a powerful force and operates both consciously and unconsciously. At the conscious level exist your thoughts, cognitions and memories that you acknowledge. At a much deeper level exists the unconscious mind, which, at the highest level, serves and protects you and consists of the vast sum of operations that happen below your conscious awareness.

For many, the concept of the unconscious mind is foreign. However, if you take the time to learn about this powerful aspect of self, you can position yourself for positive, powerful change and transformation.

Below are 20 prime directives of the unconscious mind.

1. Stores memories. These memories may be temporal, in relationship to time, or atemporal, not in relationship to time.

2. Organizes all your memories. These are organized for your recollection and can be organized temporally, in your Time Line or by subject, via the Gestalt.

3. Is the domain of the emotions. You may consciously be aware of your emotions, however they’re generated and maintained by the unconscious mind.

4. Represses memories with unresolved negative emotion. When not yet dealt with, the body will trap the emotions in the body and create a resistance or blockage in internal communication throughout the body and mind. If you are not equipped to emotionally deal with the memory, your unconscious mind is doing it’s best to protect you.

5. Presents repressed memories for resolution. When you are emotionally equipped to deal with memories, your unconscious mind will present memories to you so that you can make sense of it, obtain required learnings and release emotions. They may be through dreams, flashes, words, symbols or even visually.

6. May keep the repressed emotions repressed for protection. This is a short-term function and long-term, emotions should be release for the long-term interest of your body.

7. Runs the body. Your unconscious mind has a blueprint of your body now and also of perfect health. Your body runs many processes all day long from breathing, blinking, pumping blood throughout your body and more without guidance from us. These blueprints are held in the unconscious mind.

8. Preserves the body. The unconscious mind heals infection and damage, warns you of danger and creates instant responses accordingly so that it may maintain the integrity of the body. At times it can feel like being on auto pilot.

9. Is a highly moral being. You have beliefs, value and morals you were taught to accept. When you operate against your moral code, your unconscious mind reminds you. It may replay memories or even create feelings of dis-harmony until you can make amends.

10. Enjoys serving, needs clear orders to follow. Just like you must direct a young child, your unconscious mind must also have clear, specific and focused directions to follow from the conscious mind. The conscious mind is referred to as the goal setter and the unconscious as the goal getter. If you do NOT attain your goals, chances are you have not taken the time to create clear instructions for your unconscious mind to follow.

11. Controls and maintains all perceptions. Every day you are bombarded with up to 12 million bits of information per second and your unconscious mind is responsible to filter this data and make it manageable for your conscious mind to make sense of it. It does so in chunk sizes of 7 plus or minus 2.

12. Generates, stores, distributes, and transmits “energy” throughout the body. Your body knows when it requires relaxation and boosts of adrenaline and will assist your body in distributing this energy accordingly.

13. Maintains instincts and generate habits. From the moment of birth, some instincts are built in, like fight or flight response. Habits are cultivated over time and in order to change them, you must work at the unconscious level.  

14. Needs repetition until a habit is installed. Repetition is required to train and be embedded in the neurological system.

15. Is programmed to continually seek more and more. If you’ve ever wanted to be more, do more or have more, it’s because your unconscious mind is hard wired for it. Feel free to keep asking yourself “what’s next?” as there is always more to discover.

16. Functions best as a whole integrated unit. The unconscious mind operates better as a whole and functions best with a minimum of parts. These “parts: can be goals, ideas and beliefs that are, at times, in conflict with one another. So the fewer parts, the better.  

17. Is symbolic. The unconscious mind uses and responds to symbols. Symbols can have significant meaning and they can be interpreted by your unconscious mind in meaningful ways. The interpretation of the metaphor behind the symbol will vary from person to person.

18. Takes everything personally. Your unconscious mind sees only fact and has no concept of make belief. It’s important you pay attention to what your unconscious mind perceives as real. Also, the good you see in others is a reflection of the good you see in yourself. This also applies to what you dislike about others, as it’s a reflection of what you dislike about yourself. This is the basis of perception is projection. When working with people, it’s important you are aware of this and deliberately focus on the good so you attract more of it for self and optimize your relations with others.

19. Works on the principle of least effort. Your unconscious mind wants to do as little as possible to preserve your energy. It takes the path of least resistance.

20. Does not process negatives. If you “do NOT think of a blue tree”, what will happen? You think of a blue tree. It’s imperative you say things the way you want them, not what you don’t want, because your unconscious mind will automatically go there.

    The new year has arrived! A few are prepared, many are not and some are in the midst of preparations.

    One reason people simply don’t set goals or set ineffective ones is that they simply don’t know where to start and how to make most of the process.

    Back in 2004, I worked in financial services and our branch manager called us in for a special meeting. We had no idea what she had planned. It was a goal setting workshop. It was also a eye-opening experience.

    I didn’t know what I wanted. I had always been intimidated making decisions that would impact my future. I also realized this was something I needed to keep doing. Every year since, I’ve gone through a deliberate goal setting and dream stretching.

    I’ve studied many other systems, so overtime, it’s evolved and become more refined.

    There are four aspects to explore to lay the foundation for this process: look back, assess the now, decide what you want for your future and make a plan.

    Below I’ve listed some suggested questions and instructions so you can have guidance and the process can be even more meaningful to you. Go through them and feel free to add some of your own if that resonates with you.

    I’d also recommend going through this with pen and paper versus digitally. You can create a summary if you’d like once you’re complete but let the first draft flow to you and through you.

    Look back

    What are some wins you’ve had, milestones you hit and things you accomplished in 2023?

    What goals did you not accomplish you’d like to carry forward?

    What did you learn?

    Your Now

    What are the key areas of your life? What hats do you wear in each?

    How satisfied are you in each of the different areas of your life?

    Where are you aligned?

    Where are you not?

    What are you conveniently ignoring?

    What experiential aspect of your life are you seeking at this stage?

    Your Future

    Dare to dream and imagine if you had unlimited time, money, energy, talent and resources, what would you want?

    Reconnect to your life’s vision.

    What would you love to see in each of the major areas in your life by the end of 2024?

    What would you love to experience? How would you like to grow? What contribution would you like to make?

    What big, juicy goal(s) would you like to set for the New Year?

    What are the sprints to get to each goal?

    Connect to the energy of yourself, your goals and your future self who will accomplish them.

    Create a plan and get it into your calendar.

    Make It Real

    A dream without a plan is just a wish. taking the time to plan your future is crucial and a key step most people miss.

    They just don’t get to it.

    They let life get in the way.

    The questions above are just a starting point. Now it’s up to you to do the work.

    So, get focused, get clear, and start deliberately creating your future so you can positively impact your life and the lives of future generations across the globe.

    Time, the elusive resource you wish you had more of. You constantly find yourself yearning for additional hours in the day, desperately seeking ways to extend your precious time. But what if the key to unlocking more time isn’t actually about having more hours, but rather about optimizing the energy you bring to each and every moment?

    In this article, you’ll explore how energy, or the lack thereof, is the true thief of time and how you can make better use of it by taking charge of your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

    Banish Brain Fog

    Reducing brain fog is an essential step towards maximizing your energy reserves. Staying hydrated, nourishing your body with vital nutrients (real, whole foods, not processed or from a box), and engaging in regular physical activity can significantly improve cognitive function and mental clarity.

    By fuelling your brain with the right ingredients, you can enhance your ability to focus, make decisions, and complete tasks efficiently. This is not complicated. And it’s a step most people miss.

    Have a Compelling Reason

    Having a compelling reason or motivation (a.k.a., “big juicy goal”) behind your actions is crucial in ensuring that you are utilizing your time effectively. When you understand why you are doing what you do, you tap into a wellspring of energy that propels you forward.

    When you have a clear sense of purpose and derive meaning from your daily activities, you’ll be more likely to experience higher levels of motivation and productivity.

    Prepare and Plan

    Being prepared and having a well-thought-out plan is another vital aspect of utilizing your time wisely. Contrary to popular belief, spending time on planning actually creates more time in the long run. By taking a proactive approach and setting clear goals, you eliminate unnecessary guesswork and reduce time wasted on indecision and backtracking.

    Research suggests that individuals who prioritize planning and organization are better equipped to manage their time efficiently and achieve their desired outcomes…. and who doesn’t want those big, beautiful and juicy goals?

    Take Part in Active Leisure

    How you choose to spend your downtime plays a significant role in our overall energy levels. Engaging in active leisure activities, such as hiking, dancing, or playing a sport, not only rejuvenates your body but also recharges your mind. These activities stimulate your senses, promote creativity, and enhance your overall well-being. On the other hand, passive leisure activities like binge-watching television shows or mindlessly scrolling through social media may provide temporary distraction but ultimately leave you feeling drained and unfulfilled.

    Focus on (and do) Result-Driven Activities

    A key principle to make the most of your time is to focus on result-driven activities. When you allocate your energy to tasks that directly contribute to your desired outcomes, you create a positive feedback loop. As you start seeing tangible results, your motivation spikes, fuelling you with even more energy to tackle future endeavours. By directing your attention and efforts towards high-impact activities, you ensure that your time is well spent and your energy is channeled effectively.

    Here’s what you really need…

    In conclusion, the notion of needing more time is a misconception. What you truly need is to make better use of the time you have by optimizing your energy. Do this and in a few short months you’ll need a telescope to see how far you’ve come.

    There was a profound moment I remember so clearly from a year ago, on February 3, 2022. I was at the cottage, and while meditating, had an overwhelming flood of emotions and deep spiritual connection with one of my mentors, Bob Proctor.

    He was one of the world’s most influential forces in the area of possibility thinking, prosperity and personal growth.

    I gave gratitude for this moment and proceeded to turn on my computer to check my emails when I saw a message that Bob Proctor had passed away.

    While his body left this physical world, Bob Proctor’s lessons, legacy and spirit continue to live on.

    Here are a few of the greatest lessons I learned from being a student of his and spending time in his world.

    Study Every Day

    Bob dropped out of the traditional school system at an early age and took on a series of jobs he never thrived at. When he was 26, he was given a book, Think and Grow Rich, by one of his mentors and since that day, read it every day.

    While he continued to expand his wealth of knowledge, this was one body of work he kept coming back to over the years and was considered an authority on the subject.

    Whenever people would ask for his advice, he’d say “You’ve got to study. Study every day.” He taught me not only to study to fill my knowledge base, but to also study myself and really get to know who I am, how I operate and what my deepest desires are.

    Deep down, for many years, I’d always wanted to take the time to study, learn and grow every day and when Bob set it as a standard, it gave me permission to do the same. Bob would often quote Vernon Howard and say “you can’t escape a prison if you don’t know you’re in one.” When you study every day and combine that with a sense of purpose and create a sense of faith based on understanding, miracles are possible for you.

    Studying for me has truly been transformational in how I now look at myself, see the world, the people in it and opportunities all around.

    Action is Required

    While studying is nice, action is where the learning really begins. Bob would say “if you want to have something, you first must DO something.” He’d consistently remind me of the knowing doing gap and how I already know what I need to do, I just need to actually do it, do more of it and do it even better.

    You’ve Got To Have A Goal

    When Bob talked about goals, he talked about big, juicy goals. Deep dreams and desires that stretch you way beyond your comfort zone. While achieving the goals may be nice, these goals are really about who you become along the way. They get you to stop playing small and realize that anything really is possible and it is possible for you!

    Be Generous

    Bob was the ultimate giver of time, money and energy. He was wealthy because he gave. He lived in the spirit and frequency of generosity and was rewarded with a rich and fulfilling life.

    A powerful practice he learned from his mother when he was young. Growing up in WWII days, scarcity was prevalent in all aspects of life and while his mother didn’t have much, there was a family that lived down the street didn’t have coal to heat their house. When Bob mentioned this to her, she gave him a $20 bill and asked Bob to go buy $10 of coal (a lot of money at the time and half of what his mother had) and give it to the family. She didn’t even now them.

    Yesterday, I met with a mentor who also worked with and studied with Bob. He mentioned to me that Bob always sat at the front of the plane and back of the car. One time while they were travelling together, Bob overheard another passenger mention that he’d forgotten his cufflinks and he sounded distressed. Bob asked the passenger what seat he was in and he told him. Once they were airborne, Bob went up into his carry on baggage and pulled out his box of cufflinks. He went over to give the passenger a pair of cufflinks. When he came back, he was beaming, because not only had he given him a pair of cufflinks, he’d given the passenger his best cufflinks. What a beautiful example of spontaneous generosity that he always encouraged his students to do!

    Make People Feel Special

    One message Bob continually demonstrated is the ability to make people feel seen, special and important. He’d learn their names, give them genuine compliments, be interested in them and say thank you for the service they provided. Leaving people with the impression of increase is key!

    Bob’s Son Brian often shares a story when he was in fourth grade and about to go to a new school. He was not confident and Bob suggested he see everyone with a MMFI (make me feel important) on their forehead. That was a philosophy Brian carried forward throughout his life and allowed him to make friends and connections easily after that moment.

    Money is a Mirror and Magnifier 

    People universally desire to be happy, healthy and wealthy. While happy and healthy are important, money is the only one of the three that can actually be measured to the penny.

    Bob would always say that if you don’t like your results in life, you’ve got to make some changes to yourself, your life and your belief system. Because the results you get in any area are a direct reflection of your mental programming.

    He was never shy to ask people the most amount of money they earned, because it demonstrated where their belief system and financial thermostat was set. He reminded us that money is a magnifier and will simply make you more of who you are and will come to you when you are in alignment with it. Many people are afraid of money because they don’t want to be perceived as greedy, selfish or uncaring. Others crave it and are bitter they don’t have it. These are the best opportunities to look within and change your paradigm.

    At one time, Bob was earning a lot of money and spending it foolishly. When he realized this, he began to change how he showed up in life and shifted the money he was earning to do good. He felt better and others thrived as a result.

    Work With The Law

    The laws of the universe are unseen forces that most people don’t understand or even know are there. Bob not only understood the law, he worked with it, lived it and shared it with everyone he came across. When you work with the law, it opens up the world of what’s possible for you so you can make better choices, have the confidence to go for bigger goals and have the faith to move forward in spite of insurmountable obstacles because you’re ultimately a spiritual being having a human, physical experience at your core.

    Go For What You Really Want, Don’t Hold Back And Challenge Conventional Thinking

    Bob believed there is greatness in all of us. He truly believed that you’re capable of doing anything! He’d never let you settle or say “I can’t.” Bob would be the first one to cheerlead you on to go for your dream NOW. Why wait?

    He taught his students to think FROM possibility and beyond the boundaries of common thinking.

    When Mary Morrisey was going to purchase her dream home, she was applying for a mortgage and Bob challenged her. He asked why she was applying for a mortgage and why she didn’t simply go out and earn the money to buy the house. Her spine straightened up when she realized she hadn’t even considered that possibility.

    One of the greatest challenges Bob was most widely known for was challenging you to you’re your annual income into their monthly income. So often, you settle for less than you’re capable of or create goals that you feel obligated to have and leave yourself behind. This is no way to live.

    You’ve got to go for what you want and follow your passions and dreams. It’s the most fulfilling way to live. Find your purpose and live it, because it’s something people will benefit from long after you’re gone.

    Selling is Helping

    Bob had a natural gift as a sales man and when he spoke, people wanted to be in his presence. He knew the information he had to share was special and would transform their life, because he’d seen it done time and time again in his more than 60-years in the personal growth and development industry.

    He would consistently remind me that if I didn’t give someone the opportunity to work with me, I was robbing them of a potential massive and radical transformation. At first this felt uncomfortable. And quickly, I realized he was right. People are stuck, just like I was. And I am blessed for all the opportunities I’ve been helped in the past.

    Death Can Be Something To Look Forward To

    In the years leading up to his physical departure here on earth, Bob was often asked about his perspective on dying and he had a beautiful attitude toward it. While he knew one day his physical body would pass, his spirit would continue to live on. He didn’t know what was in store for him, and he was looking forward to finding out. He began to adopt this perspective after studying Robert Russel’s “Dry Those Tears,” a wonderful perspective on the meaning of life and life after death.


    Bob prided himself on doing work he loved till the day he died and he absolutely did. He gave people hope. He helped people see the good in themselves that he saw in them. He lived his mission. He made the moments count. And for that I am thankful. As many others are across the globe.

    In closing

    If we could all have an attitude and presence like Mr. Bob Proctor, the world would truly be an even more magical place than it is.

    I hope these lessons have inspired you to pay a little more attention to yourself and allow yourself to step into your truth and challenge yourself beyond what you ever thought possible. I know I’m certainly a different person because of him and I’m someone who truly loves and knows myself in ways I couldn’t have imagined before working with Bob. While his physical body has departed, I continue to study with him every day and allow his lessons to guide me as well as the beautiful students at the Abundance Academy.

    He’s right. Everything is energy and when you think about energy, it’s in constant motion.

    You’re energy. I’m energy. The trees, beaches and forces of nature are energy. Color, sound and scents are energy. So do thoughts, feelings and your state of health and wellbeing.

    Energy is carried by energetic frequencies. Without getting into gadgets and gizmos or lessons in quantum physics, one of the simplest ways to “measure” your personal vibrational frequency is by how you feel, both physically and emotionally.

    Feel bad and your frequency is low. Feel good and your frequency is high.

    If your frequency is low and you want to feel better, do something to raise it.

    Here are 12 ways you can raise your vibrational frequency

    1. Gratitude

    This is a simple practice of saying thank you for the blessings and good things in your life. They could be simple and they can be big. When you constantly focus on what is good and what is working, you can’t help but feel better.

    Gratitude is both an attitude (way of living where your thoughts, feelings and actions are consistently expressive of gratitude) and a practice (action where you can pause and say thank you in a journal, for example)

    2. Move Your Body

    Moving your body is critical to your health and wellbeing. There are so many reasons to move I won’t be able to cover them all.

    First, your body was designed to move and do things like build, hunt, gather food, transport you from one location to another and generally move around. It wasn’t built to sit at a desk. Movement is your natural way of life.

    Second, when your body is well aligned, it generally feels good. Your body can function and operate properly and you may not even notice it. When things go wrong is when you pay attention. Moving your body in many directions and taking part in a wide variety of activities is key.

    Third, when you move your body, you get your lymphatic system going. This is like the garbage dump of the body and essential to flush toxins out of you.

    My point is move your body as often as you can (especially if you sit at a desk all day) and do it in a wide variety of ways. Make it fun and do it consistently.

    3. Breathe

    Research shows that the brain can only go three to ten minutes (depending on which source you reference) without oxygen before brain damage begins to occurs.

    Breath is life and most people do not breath very effectively.

    Journalist James Nestor traveled worldwide to research the hidden sciences behind breathing practices and cutting-edge studies about this basic biological function. In his book breath, he shares how simple and slight adjustments to breathing (ensuring to breathe through the nose, exhaling fully, breathing slowly, breathing less, chewing and masticating) can improve energy, health and so much more.     4. Be Aware of Your Thoughts

    Eckart Tole says that “awareness is the greatest agent for change.” So often people try to solve their problems simply by changing their behaviours, however, that’s not what’s actually causing the problem in the first place.

    When you become aware of the thoughts you are thinking (literally the words going on inside your head) and the feelings they lead to, you can take your first steps towards change. If they are not serving you, simply change them. If they are, keep them or even elevate them to even better feeling thoughts.

    You were meant to feel good, so go ahead and indulge!

    5. Stay Hydrated

    Your body is made up of anywhere from 45-75% water and that percentage tends to decrease with age. Water is essential for health and necessary for bodily functions including temperature regulation, cellular function and waste removal.

    Studies show that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. This can lead to fatigue, foggy memory, irritability, poor metabolic function, kidney stones and more. If you ever get thirsty, that’s a sign you’re already dehydrated.

    So make sure to drink plenty of water and minimize dehydrating beverages like coffee, caffeinated teas, pops, excess salt, refined foods.

    6. Take an Epsom Salt Bath

    Epsom salt baths have been used for hundreds of years to ease all kinds of aches, pain and skin troubles. In the water, Epsom salts break down into magnesium and sulfate and that can be absorbed into your body through your largest organ, the skin.

    These baths can be helpful for arthritis pain and swelling, bruises and sprains, fibromyalgia, insomnia, psoriasis, sore muscles after working out, sunburn pain and redness, tired and swollen feet and more. While they’re a great form of relaxation and rejuvenation, if you do have health concerns, make sure to check with your doctor before doing these.

    To enhance your experience of the bath, add high quality essential oils (I recommend DoTerra or Young Living) to your Epsom salts before putting into the bath so the oils can be absorbed as well. If you simply drop them on top of the bath, you’ll only experience their aromatic benefits (which is ok too).

    7. Listen to Music

    Not all music is built the same and there are some amazing sounds that can soothe your soul and help you enter an elevated state.

    Classical music has been found to be helpful to boost concentration, self-discipline and learning skills. It has been known to induce a calming effect and a release of dopamine to spike pleasure and prevent the release of stress hormones, thereby making focused tasks you are doing more pleasurable.

    Binaural beats can help you increase creativity and cognitive enhancement, reduce anxiety and improve mood, help you enter a meditative state, improve sleep, focus, attention and memory retention. If you’ve never heard of them, binaural beats are two tones with slightly different frequencies played at the same time. Your brain interprets these two tones as a beat of their own. These tones align with brain waves to produce a beat with a different frequency and this difference between the two tones is measured in Hz. When your brain hears these beats, your brain activity matches the frequency set by the beats and allows you to train your brain to reach a certain mental state.

    Sounds of nature improve health, increase positive affect, lower stress and annoyance. While it’s optimal to be surrounded by the natural sound as you’re walking through a national park, standing on a beach or near a waterfall, etc., the next best thing is tuning into a recording of nature sounds. It would be ideal to listen with headphones to be fully immersed and surrounded by the sound.

    A sound bath can also have a positive effect on mental health and physical pain and this is a practice used by many cultures for thousands of years. With a sound bath, sound waves are created at a specific vibrational frequency using crystal bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, bells or gongs. Sound baths are often practiced alongside meditation.

    8. Spend Time In Nature

    Nature is in perfect harmony and has a naturally high vibrational frequency. The more time you spend in nature, the better. You can improve your breathing, sleep, reduce depression and anxiety, boost motivation to exercise, raise mental energy, immune health, vision, emotional wellness and more.

    When possible, ground yourself and let your skin touch nature. Take your feet off I the grass or on the sand, swim in the water, touch (or even hug) a tree, garden with bare hands.

    9. Eat fresh, natural, nutrient-dense foods

    What you put in is what you get out. Eating a diet full of a variety of foods, minimal salt, sugars and saturated and industrially-produced trans-fats are essential for a healthy diet.

    So what should you eat? This can get complicated. I’d recommend seeing a dietician, nutritionist, naturopathic or functional medicine doctor to help you set up a diet that’s optimal for you.

    In general, good rules to follow are:

    Eat a rainbow for every meal (there should be many colours), eat more proteins and fats earlier in the day and healthy carbs later

    Be intentional about what you eat and chew your food well

    Eat organic when possible

    Wash your fruits and vegetables well

    Minimize fish to 1-2 times per week and stick to wild, when possible (they contain a lot of heavy metals)

    Eat raw and steam your food rather than fry

    Drink plenty of water

    10. Use Essential Oils

    I used to think essential oils were things that simply made a room smell nice. Until I got educated, I had no idea of the benefits they really have. Essential oils can boost mood, reduce stress, increase attentiveness, improve sleep, kill bacteria, funguses and viruses, reduce anxiety and pain, reduce inflammation, reduce nausea and relieve headaches. There are even hospitals that administer them as a healing tool for patients.

    Not all essential oils are made the same way, so it’s essential you choose a high quality oil (I would recommend DoTerra or Young Living).

    You can use them aromatically (in a diffuser or simply drop some on your hands and inhale), topically (on your skin) and in some cases, internally (not all are designed for this).

    My favourite go-to oils are: peppermint, lavender, lemon, wild orange, bergamot, cypress, ylang-ylang, frankincense and rose.

    11. Be Present and in the Now

    It’s good to learn from your past, have a direction for your future, but all that ultimately matters is now. How are you showing up for yourself, around your friends and family, in your work? Are you truly living out your fullest experience and expression of life and noticing the magic moments along the way?

    If not, use this as an opportunity to recalibrate!

    12. Do What You Love!

    When you do things that light you up, whether for work or as a hobby, for your entire day or even for a few wonderful moments, you light up like a Christmas tree. Notice what you do love and commit to yourself to do even more of it as you step into this next year.

    Abundance isn’t something you need to sign up and wait in line for, it’s something you can have any place, any time and in as much quantity as you choose. It’s something you can have now regardless of the perceived status of your health, wealth, relationships or any other aspect of your life.

    Because it’s not something you seek, it’s something you already have, abundance is inside you and all around you. All you’ve got to do to activate abundance and acknowledge it.

    Know that everything you believe is true and everything that’s true to you IS true to you, regardless of what others think.

    What is abundance?

    Abundance is about plentifulness of the good things of life. It’s a very large quantity of something and can even be seen as an overflow.

    It can also be referred to as prosperity, affluence, wealth, opulence, comfort, well-being, luxury, plentifulness, fruitfulness, profusion and plenteousness.

    It’s important you seek abundance for the right reasons and make it a part of your everyday life!

    People often seek abundance when they’re in a place of lack and scarcity. Here’s the thing, what you focus on expands and everything is energy.

    If you truly want more abundance in your life, make it a part of your everyday and simply how you choose to live. It’s not something you want to attempt to binge on when you really think you need it. That’s when it will backfire on you.

    Know that you CAN have your life go right more of the time.

    Know that you CAN tune into the abundance with just a little deliberate and consistent effort.

    And you CAN see your goals and dreams unfold before your eyes with absolute certainty.

    Here are 10 ways you can have more abundance in your life

    1. Count your blessings.

    Your life is already full of abundance. Until you acknowledge and appreciate what you do have, you can’t be in a position to attract more.

    Make a list and don’t hold back. Think of all areas in your life: health, wealth, relationships, your physical space, and more.

    2. Add value to others

    Tony Robbins says “the secret to living is giving.” When you add value to others by giving your time, money or energy, not only does it lift them up, it lifts you as well. It puts you in an elevated vibration and abundance cycle.

    The key to this is to make sure the giving is for the right reasons and done joyfully. If not, don’t do it.

    3. Forgiveness

    Forgiveness is about you more than another person. You’re holding onto a negative story and toxic energy that’s not serving either of you.

    There’s a 3-step process Michael Beckwith teaches when unfavorable situations come up. This is great to apply when it comes to forgiveness, because it paves the path for forgiveness and effective closure.

    Step 1: It is what it is, accept it. You don’t have to like it or agree with it. It happened.

    Step 2: Harvest the good. When something bad happens, it has the equal and opposite opportunity for something good. What good can come of this situation? What can you learn from it?

    Step 3: Forgive all the rest. Here’s where you let it go. Write a letter of forgiveness. Create a picture of the bad situation and imagine it blowing it away like a dandelion or any other metaphor that’s meaningful for you.

    4. Peak experience

    Go out and create or have a peak experience. Something that lights you up. This can be something big or small. It needs to be different from your daily norm and something that will surprise you, delight you and engage your 5 senses in fresh new ways.

    5. Feel the love through the power of touch

    Gary Chapman, author of the 5 Love Languages has classified physical touch as one of the 5 key love languages we have. It’s a phenomenal way for us to connect with one another as humans, animals and even textured objects. Cuddles, hugs, hand-holding, petting, whatever your flavor is, add touch to your day and take the time to feel it!

    6. Get grounded

    The term grounding, also known as earthing, refers to contact with the Earth’s surface to stabilize the electrical environment of your organs, tissues and cells.

    It’s been shown to improve sleep, reduce chronic pain, reduce levels of cortisol, reduce the electrical fields induced on the body, shift from sympathetic nervous system to parasympathetic activation and improve overall wellbeing.

    Modern lifestyle separates humans from this type of contact and natural environmental flow, so it’s important to literally “take your shoes off and stay a while” on grass, sand, dirt and in water or any surface connected directly to the earth.

    You can also step out and connect with any of the elements of nature: air, water, looking at fire, being around trees and more.  

    7. Indulge – bath, facial, massage

    Putting yourself first and taking the time to meet your wants and needs is key, even if they seem frivolous. When you take the time to indulge in life’s pleasures, whatever is most important for you, you are letting yourself (and your unconscious mind) know you’re number one in your life.

    So take a bubble bath, go for a facial, book a massage, add some essential oils to your bedding. Let your creativity go wild!

    8. Count your blessings

    This world really is abundant. Your heart beats 100,000 times per day, you breathe 22,000 times per day, there are 100,000 blades of grass in a square meter and 2 million grains of sand in just one cup. Notice how amazing this world is and if you want to enter a meditative trance, count your breaths or these blessings around you.

    9. Give gratitude

    Gratitude is the practice of giving thankful appreciation for what you receive, either tangible or intangible. It’s a practice that’s been around for thousands of years across all cultures and religious practices across the globe.

    You can write what you’re grateful for, say “thank you” and look for things that you love, appreciate and are thankful for throughout your day. The most important thing is that you actually feel grateful for your gratitudes.

    10. Dare to dream & imagine the possibilities

    Albert Einstein said that “Imagination is the most powerful force in the universe.”

    When you step into your world of imagination,

    Your unconscious mind can’t tell the difference between what’s real and what’s imagined. When you enter the world of your imagination, you can access things that are not possible in your normal and ordinary every day. Anything really is possible. And it’s real in that moment.

    “I am” statements are some of the most powerful words on the planet because they embody your identity and can dictate your personal reality in an extremely powerful way.

    Most people look at their current identity statements, listen to what they’re currently saying about themselves and simply attempt to create new identity statements that are the opposite. They are told to repeat them in hopes they’ll eventually become that person.

    While there’s a time and place for this, people often report feeling like a “liar” because the new “I am” statement isn’t aligned with them yet.

    Why Time Line Therapy “I am” statements are so powerful

    What’s different with the identity statements you receive after your personal Time Line Therapy Session is that they have come directly from you and your unconscious mind.

    These are leanings you’ve had about yourself that you had previously brushed away from your conscious awareness and through the Time Line Therapy session, they have resurfaced.

    One of the prime directives your unconscious mind has is that it represses memories that are not ready to be resolved. By obtaining your learnings, you can resolve the negative emotions or limiting decisions you have made surrounding that memory along with any other events with those same emotions or limiting decisions.

    What do you do with your “I am” statements?

    When you receive your personalized “I am” statements, what exactly can you do with them?

    There’s no one size fits all formula. However, here are a few really great menu options to choose from. Read below.

    Option 1: Print them and put them somewhere you can see

    Put them in picture frames, laminate them or simply pin them up on your walls where you glance at and reference often. Read them once a day or periodically as you pass by.

    Option 2: Read them out loud

    Read them out loud and really listen to yourself as you read them. Notice the positive emotions that come up as you do read them and memorize the good feelings. Acknowledge how they are showing up in your current life and celebrate that too, either with a smile, in your gratitude journal or success journal.

    Option 3: Say them to yourself while looking into the mirror

    Eyes are the windows to the soul. When you look yourself deeply in the eye and remind yourself of these wonderful learnings, they will penetrate even deeper.

    Option 4: Record them and listen on loop

    There are two apps I love (perhaps more out by the time you’re reading this), Voice Loop and Think Up. They’re apps where you record yourself saying something on your phone and it’ll actually create a track that will keep looping over and over and over again. You can literally record your affirmations and listen to them for hours as you run errands, do housework or even as you work at your desk.

    What I love about Voice Loop is that you can merge multiple tracks at once. It may sound a bit crazy to hear 2 or more tracks speaking at once, however, your unconscious mind picks them all up. It’s what is referred to as a multiple induction in hypnotherapy. When you listen to something like this in a relaxed state, it can be extremely soothing.

    What I love about Think Up is that you can add pretty music to the background of your tracks and also custom photos.

    Both are good. I use both for different reasons.

    Option 5: Look at your list and dive deeper

    Take a look at the “I am” statements and jot down a few that are standing out to you at this time. I’d suggest at least one up to a maximum of 7. It could vary day by day.

    Of these, think about how you’ve expressed this quality in your life or how you’d like to express it in the future. You can look up the definitions or do a google search for ideas about what that quality is and how it can possibly be expressed further. You can use it as a theme for your day or week or even have a discussion about it with a friend. The possibilities are endless. Dive deeper and have fun exploring. Let intuition guide you.

    Option 6: Create something artistic

    You can use some of all of the words to create an artistic project. Use the words directly or simply as energetic inspiration for something creative: a painting, drawing, vision board, sculpture, or anything you can come up with that’s meaningful to you. The unconscious mind loves colors and symbols, so make sure to keep this in mind when in creation mode.

    Do you have to do them all?

    You can. And you don’t have to. More isn’t necessarily better. What’s key is that you’re intentional about what you’re doing and do what resonates with and is meaningful to you. Let your intuition be your guide.

    Do you do affirmations? If so, when’s the last time you sat down and asked yourself if they’re actually working for you?

    What I’ve seen over the years looks something like this….

    There you are, reciting your affirmations with as much enthusiasm as possible. Only 3 more to go before you can check this off your daily success habits list and move onto the next peak performance strategy you’ve got.

    You’ve done these affirmations for what seems to be an eternity and keep doing them because you’re “supposed to” yet they don’t seem to be working and every time you recite them in the back of your mind you’re reminding yourself what a “liar” you are.

    Sound familiar?

    Trust me, you’re not alone. This is a common problem. And clearly, you’re doing these affirmations because you want to get ahead in life.

    So just why aren’t these affirmations working and what can you do about it so you stop wasting your precious time?

    Let’s start here.

    What’s an affirmation?

    An affirmation is the action or process of stating something as a fact. They’re words or phrases that evoke a positive state of mind or something one desires, like “I am powerful”, “I am beautiful”, “I am healthy and strong”, “Money flows to me easily and effortlessly”.

    They are closely related to mantras which are rooted in Buddhism and Sanskrit. Affirmations have been a fundamental component of many personal growth and development programs since the explosion of personal growth and development. In Napoleon Hill’s Think and Frow Rich, he devotes an entire chapter to autosuggestion, implying that if you repeat something often enough, eventually you’ll believe it. As scientific research evolved and developed, the impact of positive affirmations has been proven to help people achieve success, reduce negative behaviors and increase positive ones.

    These days, many successful entrepreneurs, leaders in business, writers and celebrities like Anthony Robbins, Oprah Winfrey, Arnold Schwartzenegger, Jim Carey, Denzel Washington, Lady Gaga, and Selena Gomez use affirmations as part of their mindset and success formula.

    If your affirmations are working for you, amazing. Keep doing what you’re doing. There’s no need to read the rest of this article. However, if they’re not, you may be wondering….

    If science proves that affirmations work, why aren’t they working for ME?

    Let’s address the elephant in the room. You’ve been following all the rules. You’ve carefully selected your affirmations, you repeat them daily, perhaps even several times a day and you aren’t seeing improvement. Why is that?

    Here are a few typical reasons your affirmations won’t work for you. You may be encountering one or many of them.

    1.Your affirmations don’t align with you, your truth or desires.

    Affirmations must be personalized for you. If you think you can Google the top 50 affirmations and pick them off a random list, good luck!

    Affirmations are repeated over and over again, so if you don’t choose the right affirmations, you’ll be reinforcing something misaligned, wasting your precious time on something unnecessary or feeling like a liar as you say them.

    There are many ways to create powerful affirmations that work. My favourite are through Time Line Therapy (we do this process in the Ultimate Breakthrough), Praxis Statements and Decision

    2.Your affirmations are too big of a jump.

    If you’re just getting started in business, haven’t earned a single dollar yet and are saying “I’m a billionaire business boss” when you have no context or neurology for what that even is, you’ll get backlash because your unconscious mind is doing its best to protect you from a perceived danger and in this case, failure.

    3.You’re on autopilot and simply going through the motions.

    It’s easy to rush through them to check them off your list in attempt to get that dopamine hit and say you’ve completed your mindset routine. If you don’t actually have any positive feelings or connections to them. There’s no meaning or depth as you do it.

    Set yourself up for success and make sure you do them at a time and in a place where you can get emotionally involved so you can actually feel it.

    4.You say them once and expect them to manifest.

    Tony Robbins say that “repetition is the mother of skill” and he’s right. There are two way to change a belief: massive emotional impact and constant paced repetition. It’s just like a baby learning to walk. They don’t just get up and get going the first time around. They keep practicing even when they fall and get back up with enthusiasm over and over again. This I not one-and-done, you must keep coming back to the affirmation until it becomes a part of you.

    Be patient with yourself

    Affirmations are a wonderful tool that can fuel you forward or pull you back. When you take the time to create and repeat the right affirmations for you with enthusiasm and do it consistently, you’ll need a telescope to see how far you’ll go in a short period of time.

    Realize this is a work in progress. Sometimes you can get it on your own and sometimes you need help.

    Let’s face it, some days don’t go according to plan and the stress, anxiety and frustration build. Yet, no matter how much you tell yourself you are being “positive”, you know you’re just faking it and everyone else sees you are too (whether they admit it to you is a different story).

    Here’s the thing, when you’re in a negative state, you may not be able to jump from a negative mental mindset to a pristine positive one. It’s not natural and too big of a jump for most humans on the planet.

    My suggestion is to get yourself to neutral and then see if you want to continue going up from there. You may, you may not. Either way, the choice is yours and remember it’s your choice.

    So next time you are in a funk, check out my Top 5 Mindset Reset Tools that I share with my clients and use myself to reset my mood and elevate my emotions. Best of all, each of them takes 5 minutes or less!

    1. Grounding breath with peripheral vision

    Stand tall with your feet flat on the floor. Keep your head and chin level and look up with just your eyes. Breathe slowly in through the nose and strongly out through the mouth taking 7 counts or more per inhale and exhale. Do as many breaths as you need to feel calmer and more relaxed in your body. You will have your own physical sensation for this, notice it. Once you’ve entered a state of calm, keep your eyes looking up and gradually allow your gaze to expand out to your sides as far as possible, then imagine that gaze continuing around and connecting behind your body. Lower your eyes and continue with your day.

    This exercise will get you into your parasympathetic nervous system and out of your negative emotions. Do it as many times as necessary throughout your day.

    2. Do something (anything) fun, physical or that gets you to laugh

    When your body moves, your energy grooves. When you or your energy is stagnant, it’s easy to get down. When you’re off, change what you’re doing, perhaps go load or unload the dishwasher or go do the laundry, head out for a walk around the block, do some random burpees, pushups, squats or jumping jacks, turn on some fun tunes and dance around or sing out loud, find some silly YouTube or social media videos (Celeste Barber is certainly my go-to on Instagram). Let your intuition guide you as to what you need at this time.

    This will allow you to fill a need you meet a need you have and be able to reset yourself to move on with your day.

    3. Rewrite your reality

    When you’re off, sometimes you may want to complain and let it all out. This is your chance. Grab a piece of paper and write a few sentences that express how you’re feeling. Say the exact words you’re thinking in your head (you’re not writing a piece of literature) and don’t hold back. When you’ve emptied out, identify how that makes you feel.

    Then, take out a fresh sheet of paper or your journal and answer this question “in a universe where anything is possible, what would I want and how would that make me feel?” Write that out and hold those thoughts in your mind for a few seconds. Allow yourself to feel the good feelings and just sit with this moment.

    Throw our or tear up the negative story. Energetically let it go. Reread the good story and step into the good feelings once again and fully embrace them.

    Do this exercise as many times as necessary throughout your day, or reread the positive story to lift your spirits as your day goes on.

    4. What do I want now?

    If you’re off, you have some immediate needs that need to be met. It’s important you acknowledge what they are.

    Ask yourself, “what do I want now?” then answer with a word or simple phrase for each of the following aspects of yourself: your physical body, vital body, mental body, emotional body, spiritual body

    You may find that simply emptying out allows you to feel better and more complete. Sometimes you may need to take a small action towards one of these immediate needs and the rest will organically take care of themselves.

    Do this a few times a day and notice how your needs shift throughout your day.

    5. Gratitude

    Neville Goddard says that “gratitude brings your whole mind will come into closer harmony with the creative energies of the universe” and he’s right.

    When you allow yourself to be grateful for the things you have in your life, it will stop stagnation and connect you to a source of infinite supply of anything you need, wish and desire, including a better day.

    A grateful mind continually expects good things and expectation becomes faith. There is a natural and organic flow.

    There are so many ways to give gratitude, say thank you, write a few things you’re grateful for, complete a full gratitude practice.
